Fall in Los Angeles

Fall leaves

We’re nearly halfway through October now, and that must mean fall is here, right? No. Not in Los Angeles. Instead of crunching my way through multi-colored leaves scattered on the ground and getting cozy with sweaters, I am hiding in my bedroom with the curtains drawn and the air conditioning window unit on full blast. And it’s still too hot.

There was a moment last week when I could feel fall. The air got a little cooler, I turned on my oven, and we saw a few drops of rain falling from the sky. And it was glorious. But it was only a moment, and now we’re back to our regular schedule of 100+ degree weather.

And now for the elephant in the room (or on the website, or whatever)…it’s been a bit. I didn’t forget about this blog. On the contrary, I thought about it a lot. But there’s a lot of pressure for blogs these days. Even though I have approximately zero readers at this point, I still felt unsure and nervous and weird about what I might post. So I paused and tried to figure out what I wanted my blog to say and what I wanted it to be about. And you know what? I still don’t know. All I know is that I like to write and I like to take photos, and I would like a fun way to practice those things. So for now, this is what this space will be. If you would like to come along on the journey, welcome.

I did get up to a few things this summer:

KonMari Method: So I read the book that everyone’s been reading and followed the method and oh my goodness, I have so much to say about this. I will probably write a few posts about just this topic. It was quite the journey, and I think I’m now on the other side.

Web Development: I have been diving deep into HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and all that jazz. It’s fun! It sort of scratches both the technical and artsy sides of my interests. I’ll talk more about this at a later time, but I will say real quick that if you have any interest in these things, do it! It’s fun!

Hiding from the heat in my room with the air conditioning unit on: Summer Bucket List accomplished.

If you need me, I’ll be dreaming about rain, scarves and all things fall.
